Croydon to Heathrow in numbers
Heathrow sits on the far side of London from Croydon, so this is one of the longer airport runs we do. Here is what a typical trip looks like.
Typical distance
Cross-country through Sutton and Kingston, or around the M25 from junction 7.
Typical drive time
Weekday rush hours push it up; early mornings and late evenings are quicker.
Terminals served
Terminals 2, 3, 4 and 5. Tell us yours when you book.
Booking hours
Pre-dawn departures and late-night landings are booked just like daytime runs.
Distances and times are typical road figures and change with traffic, roadworks and time of day.
Which way does the driver go to Heathrow?
There are two sensible routes from Croydon, and the driver picks the one that suits the time of day. The first heads west on local roads through Sutton, Cheam and Kingston, then on towards Hounslow and the airport's southern side. It is often the shorter option in miles. The second runs down the A23 to the M25 at junction 7 and follows the motorway round to the airport. It is longer, but when the motorway is clear it can be steadier, especially for early departures.
For Terminals 4 and 5 the motorway route usually leaves at junction 14. For Terminals 2 and 3, drivers normally use junction 15 and the short M4 spur into the central terminal area. You don't need to plan any of this – just tell us your terminal and flight time and we will build in enough time for the traffic you are likely to meet.
Getting to Heathrow from different parts of the borough
Where you live in Croydon makes a real difference to the first part of the trip. If you are collected in Purley or Coulsdon, the M25 is only a few minutes away, so the motorway is the natural choice. From the north of the borough – Thornton Heath, Norbury or Selhurst – the cross-country route through Mitcham and Sutton often makes more sense. Either way, the fare we give you is the fare you pay.
Drop-off and pickup at the terminals
On the way out, your driver takes you to the departures forecourt for your terminal. Heathrow charges vehicles for using the terminal drop-off zones, so ask the office how this is shown in your quote when you book. On the way back, the driver parks in the short-stay car park and comes into the arrivals hall with a name board, so you are not hunting around the forecourt with a trolley.
Which terminal am I flying from?
British Airways flies mostly from Terminal 5, with some flights from Terminal 3. Other airlines are spread across Terminals 2, 3 and 4, and they sometimes move. The safest thing is to check your booking confirmation and give us the terminal printed on it.
Who books this journey
Most of our Heathrow passengers are families heading off on holiday, people flying long-haul with heavy cases, and business travellers who want to work or rest on the way. Bigger groups often choose a 6 seater taxi or a 7 seater taxi so everyone and all the luggage travel together. If you are staying the night before an early flight, we can also take you to one of the airport hotels with our hotel transfer taxi service.

Croydon to Heathrow taxi questions
How long does a taxi from Croydon to Heathrow take?
A typical journey takes 50 to 70 minutes. Weekday rush hours and motorway incidents can add time, so for morning flights we suggest leaving more of a buffer.
Is the Croydon to Heathrow fare fixed?
Yes. You get a fixed fare when you book, so it does not go up if the driver hits traffic on the way.
What happens if my flight into Heathrow is delayed?
We track your flight number and adjust the pickup time to match your actual landing time, so you do not need to call us from the plane.
Where will the driver meet me at Heathrow?
With meet and greet, the driver waits in the arrivals hall of your terminal holding a name board, then walks you to the car.
Can I bring a child seat or book one?
Child seats are available on request. Tell us the child's age when you book so the right seat is fitted.
Can I pay by card for a Heathrow taxi?
Yes, we take card and cash. Let the office know how you would like to pay when you book.
