The drive

How the drive to King's Cross goes

King's Cross is on the far side of central London from Croydon, so the drive goes right through the middle of town. These are the usual stages.

Times are typical and depend on traffic.

  1. Croydon to Streatham

North on the A23 through Thornton Heath and Norbury, or across from wherever you are collected.

  2. Brixton and Kennington

Through Brixton towards Kennington and the river.

  3. Over the Thames

Usually Waterloo Bridge or Blackfriars Bridge, depending on traffic.

  4. Holborn to Euston Road

North through Holborn to the station, typically 55 to 80 minutes from central Croydon.

About the station

King's Cross and St Pancras

The two stations face each other across Pancras Road. Knowing which one you need helps your driver drop you in the right spot.

King's Cross

Mainline trains up the East Coast to places like Leeds, York, Newcastle and Edinburgh, plus Great Northern services to Cambridge and Peterborough.

St Pancras International

Eurostar to Paris, Brussels and Amsterdam, East Midlands Railway, Southeastern high-speed trains to Kent, and Thameslink.

Between the two

The stations are a short walk apart. Drop-off near Pancras Road works well for either one.

Why take a taxi from Croydon to King's Cross?

There is a direct Thameslink train from East Croydon to St Pancras, and for a light traveller near the station it works well. But plenty of journeys to King's Cross involve big cases for a week in Scotland, skis for a winter trip, or a family with children and a pushchair. Changing trains with all that is tiring. A taxi collects you from your door in South Croydon, Addiscombe or anywhere else in the borough and drops you at the station with nothing to carry until you reach the platform.

Catching Eurostar from St Pancras

Eurostar asks passengers to arrive well before departure for security and passport checks, so it pays to arrive on time and unhurried. Tell us your departure time and we will suggest a pickup time with room for central London traffic. For groups heading to Paris or Brussels together, a 6 seater taxi keeps everyone and the bags in one car.

Being collected from King's Cross

If you are coming back from the north, give us your train time and the station you arrive at. The driver will be at an agreed pickup point near the station. If your train is delayed, call or message the office and we will adjust the time. It is a good way to end a long journey, particularly late in the evening when the onward trains to Croydon are less frequent.

Late trains and early starts

The first trains north leave early, and the last arrivals come in late. We are open 24/7, so an early pickup for a morning train to Edinburgh or a late collection after a delayed service is no problem.

Connecting to an airport

Some passengers come through King's Cross on the way to or from a flight. If you are heading north-east towards Stansted, see our Croydon to Stansted taxi page. Euston is a few minutes along the same road, and our Croydon to Euston taxi page covers that station.
